Es ist wunderschön zu sehen wie viel Kunst auf dem Wat Opot Childrens Community Center vorhanden ist.
Es sind nicht nur die Materialien und Bilder in unserem Kunstraum, auch viele Hauswände sind hier gestaltet und wirken auf alle Menschen, die hier Leben.
Ein paar dieser Werke möchten wir euch hier zeigen:
It is wonderful to see how much art is available at the Wat Opot Childrens Community Center.
It is not only the materials and images in our art space, also many house walls are designed here and affect all the people who live here.

Ganz zentral ist das folgende Wandbild auf dem Gelände. Einer der Jugendlichen hat es gemalt. Er heißt Pesei und studiert mittlerweile an der Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh.
Nach Aussage von Pesei zeigt das Bild das Gesicht einer liebenden Mutter, die sich um ihre Kinder kümmert, auch wenn der Tod durch AIDS für sie nahe rückt. Die weißen Wolken stellen die lebenden und auch toten Seelen der Kinder dar. Das Kreuz und der Buddha stehen für die Offenheit und die Begegnung von der westlichen wie auch asiatischen Tradition und Religion.
Das Auge nimmt die Rolle als alles sehender Beschützer ein. Der Frieden wird durch das christliche Motiv der Taube dargestellt und der Lotos (buddhistisch) steht bildlich für die Reinheit, die aus dem Schlamm hervorwächst.
The following mural on the site is quite central. One of the teenagers painted it. His name is Pesei and he is now studying at the Royal University of Fine Arts
in Phnom Penh.
According to Pesei, the picture shows the face of a loving mother who cares for her children, even though death from AIDS is close for her. The white clouds
represent the living and dead souls of the children. The cross and the Buddha stand for the openness and the encounter of the western and the asian tradition and religion.
The eye assumes the role of all-seeing protector. Peace is represented by the Christian motif of the dove. The lotus (Buddhist) represents the purity that grows
out of the mud.
